Lawsuit Erupts Due to Houston Bed Bugs —
Bed bugs continue to make their appearance in cities both large and small across the United States report Houston pest control experts.
Widespread media coverage in the US warns consumers to be on high alert for the bloodthirsty pests when traveling. In recent years, even retail stores, movie theaters, doctors’ offices, and hospitals have battled the tiny little vampires.
Bed bugs are a scourge that nobody expects to receive when they buy or rent furniture. This however is exactly what a Houston woman is claiming occurred when she attempted to furnish her new apartment building.
Reported by My Fox Houston on May 21, 2012 , a woman claims that the furniture she rented from a Houston furniture company arrived with some unwanted houseguests…bed bugs!
According to her claims, the very day that the furniture arrived, the family began to receive painful itching bite marks. An investigation of the furniture revealed bed bugs crawling under the cushions of the couch.
A call to the rental company and promises to spray the furniture with “something better than raid”, made the woman believe that her pest problem would be gone. What she found was that the bed bugs did not die after the treatment procedure.
She demanded an immediate removal of the infested goods, but despite their removal, the short stay of the infested furniture resulted in the entire apartment being infested.
According to reports, because of the bed bug bites , the family has endured, hives, blisters, itching, welts, aching, dizziness, fevers, nausea, and has been diagnosed with scabies. Her young child has also endured several asthma attacks due to the pests.
With no help, acknowledgement, or apology from the rental company, the family has filed a lawsuit for damages within the Houston District Court.
